Director, Education Abroad

The Director of Education Abroad at Florida International University (FIU) is a visionary leader responsible for the strategic development and expansion of FIU's education abroad and exchange programs.

This role requires a dynamic individual with experience in international education and student success. The Director will lead efforts to increase enrollment, enhance program offerings, foster external relationships, and provide administrative support.

• Develop and implement a strategic plan for the growth and diversification of education abroad programs. Evaluate and enhance existing programs to ensure a high-quality academic experience.
• Lead the Education Abroad team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of innovation and creativity within the unit.
• Develop and execute strategies to increase student participation in student mobility programs.
• Work closely with faculty, academic departments, and advisors to promote programs and answer questions. Work closely with student affairs departments to align programs to fit student affairs policies.
• Conduct outreach and promotional activities to raise awareness of education abroad and exchange programs.
• Negotiate agreements and partnerships that enhance the quality and accessibility of education abroad and exchange programs.
• Develop and implement initiatives to foster positive relationships with students participating in education abroad programs.

Maintain open communication channels with students to address concerns and provide guidance.

• Work closely with the International Travel Committee to ensure the effectiveness of the institution's international travel policy, pre-departure protocols, and emergency responses for all internationally traveling students.
• Oversee the administrative functions of the Education Abroad office, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
• Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience.

Departmental Requirements :

Previous experience with study abroad programs.

• Experience with budget management and financial oversight.

Salary :

Starting at $100,000 - commensurate with education and experience.

Begin time : 9 : 00 AM

End time : 5 : 30 PM
