The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Campus Director of Education to lead a growing team of faculty at its Houston campus.

In this rewarding role you will lead a team of experienced faculty with real-world experience in the field of aviation maintenance while they guide our students to graduation.

You’ll also work alongside other campus leadership to ensure our students receive the best training possible while simultaneously focusing on the student’s educational and career outcomes.

AIM currently operates 15 aviation maintenance campuses around the country. We enroll 4,000 out of the roughly 20,000 students attending A&P schools nationwide (20%), and while there are 175 colleges around the country that are certified by the FAA to teach these programs, the 15 AIM schools produce nearly 1 out of every 4 certified aircraft technicians each year in America!

Position Purpose

This position is primarily accountable for the educational integrity of all educational programs with focus on curriculum, instructor development, and instructional resources and institutional improvement.

The Director of Education is responsible for communicating with the corporate office to ensure that all instruction and faculty training is conducted in accordance with Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), respective state departments of education, FAA, and other official regulatory agency guidelines relative to education.

Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks

  • Serve as the liaison between the campus and the corporate program directors who manage education
  • Audit all school curricula to ensure that instructors are using the most current syllabi, lesson plans, and textbooks as indicated on the intranet site
  • Audit and report upon, at least semi-annually, instructor performance
  • Conduct classroom observations; substitute as instructor, as needed
  • Create, monitor, and update Faculty Personnel Report (FPR) for each instructor
  • Facilitate initial instructor training per ACCSC standards
  • Facilitate ongoing instructor development with educational personnel
  • Chair all Program Coordinator meetings and ensure completeness of minutes is reviewed and that a copy of all meeting minutes is maintained at the school
  • Assist with the organization and facilitation of all Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings and ensure completeness of minutes is reviewed, that a copy of all minutes is maintained at the school, and that a copy of forwarded to the appropriate corporate program director and the school’s Regional Director
  • Other duties related to education, as requested by the School Director

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises all instructors at the school.

Education and / or Experience

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Educational experience in private-for-profit college education highly desirable
  • Must be an organized, detailed oriented self-starter
  • Solid employee relations, problem-solving, and teamwork skills required
  • Must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Individual contributor as well as an effective leader; skills in diplomacy and assertiveness
  • Excellent MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook skills
  • Campus Vue and SharePoint experience a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evening or weekends when requested / necessary
