Middleton Place National Historic Landmark-
Middleton Place is America’s Oldest Landscaped Gardens and home to a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Located along the Ashley River in Charleston, Middleton Place is a National Historic Landmark, Historic Home, Research Center, and Historic Plantation and Stableyards.
Host / Server Assistant
Reports to : Restaurant Manager / Supervisor FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Position Summary- This role is crucial in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for our guests. You will be the first point of contact for patrons and provide essential support to our servers and front of house staff
Primary Responsibilities and Duties-
- Welcome guests with a warm, friendly demeanor, and efficiently manage seating arrangements.
- Handle reservation system and walk-in guests, anticipate guest needs, and coordinate with the service team to ensure timely seating.
- Server Assistant- assist waitstaff by delivering food and drinks, refilling beverages, and responding to guest requests promptly.
- Ensure that host station and dining areas are clean and well-maintained throughout the shift.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and bar staff to ensure seamless service and address any issues that arise.
- Efficiently manage waitlists during peak hours and provide estimated wait times to guests.
- Provide menu recommendations and answer questions about the menu, Middleton Place events and the property

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a host / host or server is preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Work Environment and Physical Demands :
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
- Capability to work in a busy environment and handle high-pressure situations
