Job Summary :

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Highmark Federal Credit Union in living out our Mission, To educate and inspire our Highmark family so that all can achieve success.

This is done by providing outstanding service to both internal and external members.

A key component of this service is to identify the financial needs of the member and recommend appropriate credit union solutions that will improve the member’s financial life.

Essential Functions :

  • Provide quality service to members ensuring the department meets organizational, financial, operations, service and growth plans.
  • Foster teamwork, be innovative, and go above and beyond with members and other team members.
  • Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values and long-term objectives.
  • Performs job duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Director’s polices, established internal and external service standards and our work procedures.
  • Process payments from members, recommend more cost-effective payment methods when appropriate.
  • Assist with daily collection operations and be responsible for the initial collection of delinquent loans.
  • Review and contact delinquent accounts through any channel, including phone, text, email and / or mail; take appropriate action to make current.
  • Maintain accurate notes on all collection related accounts or actions.
  • Utilize credit union experience with procedures and practices that enhance members lives.
  • Manage recovery payments from third-party collectors and GLs accurately and efficiently.
  • Review accounts with management and recommend action, including repossession or charge-off or foreclosure.
  • Provide or recommend financial literacy or counseling resources when necessary.
  • Ensures the credit union’s collection related policies and procedures comply with applicable regulations and credit union policy and procedures.
  • Research and help resolve any situation which could result in a direct or indirect loss to the credit union.
  • Accurately research and respond to credit disputes regarding credit reporting, monies owed, and other matters.
  • Ensure loan and account documentation, as it relates to collections, is prepared properly and retained.
  • Identify and analyze financial situations of delinquent members, work with management on workout solutions that assist members, keeping credit union security and soundless intact.
  • Implement and execute manager’s approved decisions.
  • Assist management with recommended vendor changes.
  • Analyze and assist members with CPI issues, including working with 3rd party vendor(s) to verify insurance.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

This position is sedentary with some standing and walking required. Employee must be able to talk and hear and must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED and 2 years of collection experience in consumer or business, credit cards, or other, including garnishments, levies, foreclosures, and bankruptcy law
  • Strong interpersonal skills (oral and written communication, active listening, and a positive attitude)
  • Strong PC skills with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must pass required background check
