Job Summary
Phoenix College is seeking a Maintenance Operations Specialist Supervisor to provide support to the facilities department in an effort to execute college safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements.
In addition to project responsibilities, the position will be responsible for maintaining oversight of maintenance operations tasks and staff for Phoenix College's satellite facilities.
Essential Functions
30% - Conduct regular weekly and monthly college wide inspections to ensure compliance with ADA, OSHA and other regulatory standards.
Complete the safety checklist, noting safety violations and associated corrective actions. Follow up on all ongoing safety concerns until resolution.
Establish and maintain all required safety records. Communicate details of safety records to supervisor regularly. Supervise and oversee inspection staff, including hiring, training, providing ongoing guidance and support, and assessing performance.
30% - Supervises and oversees building maintenance tasks and staff as well as repairs to Phoenix College's satellite locations.
The satellite locations are defined as the Nursing Building, HE Building, and the ITI downtown offices. General building maintenance tasks include, but are not limited to minor plumbing fixes, limited paint jobs, changing air filters, repairing or changing ceiling tiles, changing light bulbs, among others.
Supervision will include hiring, training, providing ongoing guidance and support, and assessing performance.
25% - Develop and facilitate training for site personnel and ensure that standards are per OSHA and in compliance with Federal and State standards.
Participate in and oversee the development of the college safety program. Ensure all college stakeholders participate in and have input into the safety program.
Conduct quarterly campus-wide compliance committee meetings, maintaining collaboration and transparency at all levels
10% - Develop content for toolbox talk safety meetings. Deliver biweekly meetings to maintenance and operations staff to ensure optimized safety in the workplace.
Maintain a log of topics and attendance of all meetings.
5% -Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, four (4) years of maintenance operations, grounds or directly related experience, and two (2) years of lead work or senior level building maintenance or grounds experience.
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.
Special Requirements
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications : Possession of a valid State of Arizona Driver License (Class D)
Desired Qualifications
OSHA 501 Authorized Trainer
MESH (Manager of Environmental, Safety, and Health) Certification
Experience with an online enterprise work order systems such as SchoolDude or Team Dynamix
Five (5) years' experience in a lead or senior level position in building maintenance
Three (3) years' experience running safety meetings / discussions
Three (3) years of supervisory experience
Special Working Conditions
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving.
May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
May be required to lift or carry up to 50lbs.
May be required to work evenings and weekends
May be exposed to hazardous chemicals
Climbing stairs and / or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights.
Work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions
Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily
