Fire Alarm Inspector II

Job Summary :
Inspect and test fire alarm systems to ensure that they function effectively and meet NFPA standards. Adjust or repair malfunctioning systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Inspect and test fire alarm systems to ensure that they function effectively and meet NFPA standards
- Run test on fire alarm system and report to central station
- Coordinate with fire department to avoid response to test
- Train new fire inspectors, lead team of inspectors
- Produce detailed inspection and deficiency reports in accordance with NFPA
- Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and / or hard copy
- Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule
- Complete assigned inspections on time
- Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other inspectors
- All other miscellaneous responsibilities and other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an inspector technician role within the fire detection and protection industry
- Knowledge of fire alarm industry
- Current California Fire / Life Safety Card
- NICET certified a plus
- Lift Certificate a plus
- Proficient in NFPA 72 code requirements
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
- Knowledge of fire pumps, backflows, and standpipes is a plus
- Ability to manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality
- Attention to detail with the ability to communicate with employees, employers, customers, and authorities having jurisdiction
- Knowledge of current fire alarm and clean agent / special hazard fire suppression systems
- Ability to read fire system design drawings
- Candidate should have the ability to accurately discern, and document deficiencies found during an inspection and produce reports accurately
- Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70lbs
- Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends to meet customer requirements
- Willing to travel out of town including overnight lodging
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements
- Pass a pre-employment background check
