As the Instructional Coach, you will use your content and instructional expertise to work as a colleague with classroom teachers and serve as a master teacher, coach, presenter, and facilitator to support student learning and teacher practice.
You will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding and application of research-based effective and innovative instruction for teachers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish collaborative coaching approach to implement research-based, student-centered instructional practices
- Assist teacher in collaborative model of co-teaching, observation, dialog, and lesson demonstration to analyze and reflect on practice, promote quality instruction and positively impact student learning
- Support teachers in aligning their planning and teaching with appropriate core and subject area standards, adopted curriculum materials, and assessments
- Promote and model strategies for developing positive, engaging, productive, student-centered learning environments inclusive of all students
- Mentor teachers through non-evaluative, non-judgmental coaching that builds self-directedness and internal capacity for planning, self-assessment, and reflection
- Guide school staff in assessing the effectiveness of instructional practices
- Increase educator effectiveness by providing professional development
- Create, promote, and sustain dynamic, digital-age teaching and learning environments that provides rigorous, relevant and engaging education for teachers and students
- Sustain active and productive, school-based learning communities
- Collaborate with school leadership team to evaluate student data in support of effective school improvement planning
- Travel to school locations within designated geographic region
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in special education, or related field
- Current, valid PA Instructional II Special Education certification
- Minimum of years teaching in a special education classroom
- Must be an experienced, high accomplished, and well-respected educator
- Must have the ability to efficiently manage several roles, and the skills needed to work one-on-one with teachers, as well as to oversee a wider staff development effort in the school
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with child, parent / guardian, multidisciplinary team members, and other personnel involved in child’s educational program
