POSITION :
The Office of Multilingual Learners seeks facilitators who foster a welcoming, fun environment where multilingual and immigrant families learn about, appreciate, and support each other's linguistic and cultural journeys.
Program Facilitator for 2024-2025 GenConnect Program.
10 positions available.
LOCATION :
Positions available within the 5 boroughs. Exact locations to be determined and all work location assignments may be subject to
change.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :
Appropriately licensed and tenured NYCDOE Teacher with a minimum of three (3) consecutive years of satisfactory experience (Highly Effective / Effective) in their professional experience in the NYC public school system.
SELECTION CRITERIA :
- At least three (3) years of satisfactory (Highly Effective / Effective) professional experience within the NYCDOE.
- Satisfactory ability to provide exceptional customer service (oral and written) to every family.
- Demonstrated expertise as a trainer / chaperone in a youth leadership program.
- Demonstrated ability in conducting and / or supplementing in person and online lessons and resources.
- Fluency and literacy in at least one of the following languages : Spanish, Mandarin, Haitian Creole preferred.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Conscientious and efficient in fulfilling commitments, adhering to deadlines, and achieving desired outcomes.
- Strong people skills, with the capacity to empathize and build trusting relationships with students and their parents.
- Demonstrated command of technology, including computer skills, hardware, and systems, to perform job functions. This includes Office 365 OneDrive, SharePoint and Microsoft Office Excel, TEAMS, Word, etc.
- Satisfactory ability to be a team player, collaborating and supporting colleagues and supervisors as needed / requested.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Participating in training for this program is mandatory. Training will occur prior to the start of the activity. Candidates who are not able to attend the scheduled training session will not be hired.
Personnel will carry out one or more of the following responsibilities under the direction of the project leader :
- Arrive promptly and be prepared to work at your assigned time.
- Conduct training workshops for students and their families. Note, trainings may occur over the weekend.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, providing individualized support and guidance to participants to help them fully participate.
- Plan for and facilitate engaging educational activities during sessions, including arts and interactive games, to enhance participants’ knowledge and creativity on leadership, advocacy, culture, language, and education.
- Attend weekly staff meetings to provide feedback and updates on sessions.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Office of Multilingual Learners.
WORK SCHEDULE :
Up to 60 HOURS. Can not exceed 60 hours in total.

Eight (8) sessions, in-person, 9 : 30 a.m. 1 : 30 p.m. or 4 : 30-7 : 30 PM
Mandatory virtual training, prior to the start of the activity.
Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY :
Per Session rates as per the relevant union / organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
