POSITION SUMMARY :
This position provides comprehensive HR expertise, such as labor and employee relations, staffing, compensation and benefits, community relations and strategic planning to assigned location.
Participates in business planning, decisions and strategy development for direction of terminals as member of the Terminals leadership team.
Provides management and leadership support over HR department to improve overall Terminals performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provides strategic business partnering to Terminals’ business unit leaders to support business objectives, including direction and counsel on employee relations and development, organizational development, workforce and succession planning, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), performance management, and other HR policies and programs.
- Provides strategic, consultative support, including tactics, to client groups and Senior Terminals Leadership, influencing them to make optimal decisions with HR impact.
- Responsible for the planning and implementation of HR programs, employee development and policies including staffing, compensation, employee relations, and talent management.
- Partners with HR Centers of Excellence (CoE) to implement HR programs in support of business objectives. Oversees delivery of human resources initiatives and programs (salary allocation and other compensation programs, performance management, leadership and career development, succession planning, DEI, and benefit plans).
- Engages with teams and employees across the organization to build trust, understand concerns and opportunities, and drive continuous improvement on employee relations so that we will continue to be the employer of choice.
- Provides guidance and counsel to individual HR team on significant matters related to the application of programs, policies, and processes.
Ensures the consistent administration of programs throughout MPC.
Leads labor relations activities, including negotiations with USW, arbitration prep, grievance mitigation, general contract guidance and interpretation, Union / Management meetings, etc.
administers programs and practices that ensure compliance with company policies and employment and labor laws.
- Leads the administration of established compensation programs and policies such as salary administration, bonus plans, and employee recognition awards.
- Develops and reviews HR budget; initiates actions to ensure that budget expectations are met; reviews operating data and makes decisions on recommendations from staff and operating departments.
- Aligns HR team’s goals to MPC People Strategy and ensures that team activities also support client business unit objectives.
- Serves as Human Resources point of contact for emergency response activities as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor & Industrial Relations, or related
- field required
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor & Industrial Relations or related field, or equivalent experience (preferred).
- Minimum of ten (10) years of broad HR experience, including some supervisory / management (preferred).
- Experience in petroleum, utilities, manufacturing or related field (preferred).
Travel Requirement :
Travel required throughout the year to meet with clients, travel can increase throughout the year as business needs required.
