Job Title : Surgical Tech CWR
Location : Edison, NJ 08818
Duration : 3 Months
Job Summary : We are seeking a skilled Surgical Tech to join our team. The Surgical Tech I will be responsible for cleaning and handling instruments according to standard policies, maintaining records, and ensuring a safe and efficient operating room environment.
This role requires proficiency in surgical setups, instrument handling, and patient care coordination.
Essential Job Functions :
- Follow standardized policies for setup and surgeon preference, ensuring proper care and organization of instruments.
- Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, instruments, and medication labels in accordance with established policy.
- Handle specimens according to operating room policies and procedures.
- Manage contamination control, decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
- Remove used equipment and safely dispose of contaminated needles and syringes at the end of procedures.
- Participate in team conferences to plan and evaluate patient care, assisting the circulator in revising care plans as needed.
- Keep the ST skills proficiency checklist updated, circulating or scrubbing when rotated through specialty areas.
- Perform lifting (minimum 50 lbs.), pushing and pulling (minimum 400 lbs.), and standing for the duration of shifts.
- Identify and address the specific needs of the patient population served, ensuring care is tailored to their age, culture, language, and other needs.
- Adhere to the organization’s competencies and standards.
Required Education : Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or equivalent training.
Preferred Certifications : Professional certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).
Languages : English (Speak, Read, Write)
Work Schedule :
- 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week.
- Schedule : 7 : 00 AM - 7 : 00 PM.
- Holidays : As needed.
- No weekend shifts.
- On-call requirement : At least 4 on-call shifts per month or one weekend day if not available for on-call.
- No float requirements.
Experience Required :
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Tech in an acute care facility.
- Experience in at least two of the following specialties : Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Robotic, or Endovascular Surgery.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA).
Additional Information :
- Must be highly reliable and available to work all assigned shifts.
- No conflicting job commitments that may interfere with scheduling priorities.
