Under the supervision of the Running Start Manager, the Student Success Specialist, Running Start position is responsible for providing enrollment, retention and completion assistance to students attending North Seattle College.
This position provides direct advising services to Running Start students and supports the administration of the Running Start program.
This is a full-time position scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8 : 00AM to 5 : 00PM. The schedule may vary depending on program needs.
May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.
This position does not directly supervise permanent staff although there may be opportunities to work with trained student-workers.

What you will be working on :
- Provide information on Running Start policies and procedures to students, parents, high school counselors, and college personnel.
- Assist Running Start students with course selection and the development of individualized education goals.
- Advise prospective, new, and current Running Start students concerning college admission requirements, assessment / placement options, college transfer, and professional / technical programs, degree requirements, and transfer process.
- Assess Running Start student progress toward degree or certificate requirements and make appropriate referrals for students in need of academic or personal counseling.
- Provide programming and interventions aimed at promoting student retention and completion throughout the student experience such as orientation for new students, educational planning workshops, or appointments for continuing students.
- Provide leadership, coordination, tracking, reporting and assessment for the Running Start book loan library and coordination with the campus bookstore.
- Prepare and update Running Start advising materials.
- Collaborate with appropriate college departments and staff to coordinate and implement Running Start student processes.
- Develop and implement assessment goals and tracking for outreach events including information sessions, high school collaboration and prospective student inquiries.
- Liaison with high school counselors and college personnel regarding Running Start program and processes.
- Maintain Running Start student records and prepare reports as needed.
- Provide presentations for Running Start orientations, information sessions., and participate in other outreach and recruitment activities.
- Effectively manage projects including creating marketing material, website content, classroom presentations, room reservations, and event logistics.
- Develop, coordinate and implement programming for students transitioning from Running Start to college transfer or career training programs at North Seattle College.
- Collaborate with Running Start Manager to develop, implement, and assess goals and learning outcomes for orientations, information sessions, and student life cycle.
- Assist Running Start students in the development of educational, career, and life goals.
- Maintain working knowledge of articulation agreements between NSC and four-year institutions.
- Assist students with completing applications for graduation.
- Participate in the development of program priorities as a member of the NSC Advising and Student Success Services team.
- Communicate and work respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds such as racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, and with diverse physical and learning disabilities.

- Bachelor s degree in education, student development, psychology, human relations, or related field.
- Two years experience with student services in higher education
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to detail.
- Demonstrated experience with working effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds, such as racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, and with diverse physical and learning disabilities.

Physical Requirements
The Position
Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.
The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.
