Job Description
The Business Development Director oversees the provision of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service activities within the Marketing Department.
The Business Development Director is responsible for achieving the desired utilization of the organization’s continuum of care through the effective application of marketing principles and methods.
The Business Development Director participates in the Account Management system, assessing the needs of the customer and making the required number of marketing contacts to each account, in order to develop and maintain a long-term referral relationship which will generate a continuous flow of admissions to meet hospital census objectives.
He / she plans events, provides tours, performs referral source in-services, acts as a liaison between the Referral Source and the hospital, and seeks out new business development opportunities for the hospital.

Qualifications
Job Requirements
Education : Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business or related field required. Master’s of Business Administration or related field highly preferred.
Experience : Prior marketing and / or sales experience within a behavioral healthcare setting preferred.
Knowledge : Prefer knowledge of the Memphis and Southwest Tennessee behavioral health marketplace, insurance plans, target markets and referral sources, psychiatric and chemical dependency diagnoses & symptomology, age specific programming.
- Basic supervisory skills, basic fiscal management skills; through familiarity with business terminology; excellent written and oral communication skills;
- knowledge of, and skills in application of, marketing principles, including product, placement, pricing, and promotion as well as management of sales, advertising, and public relations resources;
- creativity; flexibility; skills in data collection and analysis, interpretation, application, and evaluation; strategic planning skills;
record of adherence to deadlines; customer service skills; teaching or training skills helpful; willingness to travel, including overnight travel, in work capacity.
