Nature of Work
The fundamental reason that thisclassification exists is to plan, develop and organize neighborhoodassociations in community self-help activities.
The Specialist works to promote citizen involvement in neighborhoodissues and serves as a liaison between the City, nonprofit agencies, privatecompanies, and citizen and neighborhood groups.
The major responsibilities for this classification include administeringand monitoring grant projects / contracts, networking, developing events andprograms, developing and providing resources for neighborhoods, and performing relatedplan implementation and administrative tasks.
The classification reports to the Director of Community Development orthe Director of Neighborhood Services.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in planning,public administration, or a related field and two years of experience inplanning, developing, and organizing community and / or neighborhood basedorganizations.
NOTE : Qualifying education, training and experience that provide therequisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will beconsidered.
Kind of Examination

The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery Economics and Community Development Department . Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.

If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register.
