Job Summary
This position will lead coding team, under the direction of the Coding Supervisor and Director, Coding / HIM. The Team Lead will work with coders to ensure that Productivity / Quality are meet ongoing and answer daily emails such as workload, coding questions.
The Team Lead will work with PFS and Audit & Compliance on any opportunities for correction / denials. The Coding Team Lead will provide education and work closely with the coders to maintain coding guidelines are up to date.
Will be the Coding Expert to the team to ensure Coding Accuracy and any opportunities for improvement are addressed and remediated.
The Coding Team Lead will work closely with the CSI Team and provide leadership for Medical Necessity, Professional / Technical coding, CCI edits through the EBEW system in Soarian.
Responsible for training all new / current Coders on updates both internally / externally due to Coding changes and updates related to regulatory changes.
Reports to the Coding Supervisor
Job Requirements
Education
Required : High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
Preferred : 3 years’ experience with coding
Skills
Detailed knowledge of coding guidelines and the ability to apply coding guidelines when reviewing documentation in the medical record.
Must have experience with detailed knowledge of the format, functions, and use of the medical record
Detailed knowledge of APC’s and assignment
Detailed knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 CM
Detailed knowledge of 3M and Cerner Reporting
Ability to perform computer data entry
Ability to work remotely based on schedule and in-house
Ability to supervise others and communicate effectively
Licensure / Certification / Registration
Required : RHIA, RHIT, or CCS, COC or CPC
