Under general supervision of the Director of New Student Relations, the Coordinator of New Student and Community Relations supports the College's enrollment efforts by providing general admissions information to prospective or newly admitted students, cultivating relationships that will lead to potential recruitment opportunities, managing relationships with future students, and representing the College at high school and community events.

Job Description

  • The Coordinator of New Student and Community Relations serves as a primary college recruiter, maintains the recruitment calendar, plans and implements events on and off campus, and represents the College at various locations throughout Northwest Arkansas and surrounding areas.
  • Promotes NWACC in the community by actively seeking opportunities provided by civic organizations and other interested groups.
  • Articulates the College's mission to the public serving as a liaison between NWACC and area high school counselors / administrators, students, parents, alumni, community organizations, corporations and / or governmental agencies.
  • Plans, coordinates, implements, and attends outreach programs such as college fairs, job expos, and other recruitment-oriented events to market the college's presence and offered services and programs.
  • Participates in high school visits including, but not limited to, college nights, financial aid fairs, parent informational sessions, lunch visits, and class visits.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding programs and courses offered and maintains a steady flow of communication between Enrollment Services and prospective students through traditional mail, email, social media, and text messaging.
  • Creates and implements communication plans with prospective students through each stage of the enrollment process. Uses social media and other technologies to effectively facilitate communication for both external and internal audiences.
  • Works collaboratively with and makes appropriate referrals to other departments.
  • Enters and maintains up to date records on inquiries and applicants in the college ERP system (Workday).
  • Assists Student Services leadership by identifying recruitment opportunities and implements general recruitment strategies.
  • Collaborates with Marketing Department for development of recruiting initiatives. Coordinates outreach efforts by collaborating with other key staff to produce, house, and distribute recruitment materials.
  • Maintains knowledge of the academic divisions, degree areas, campus life, campus activities, and student aid programs.
  • Assists in hiring, training, and supervising Student Ambassadors, who serve as the peer group that aides prospective and returning students in applying for admission, giving campus tours, assisting with campus events, and generally assisting recruitment and registration initiatives.
  • Organizes and executes campus visits for groups and individuals by providing a presentation and tour.
  • Maintains a presence at both NWACC locations in Bentonville and Springdale.
  • Works occasional early mornings, nights, and weekends.
  • Travels with personal vehicle and receives mileage reimbursement.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary $19.76 per hour

  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance to administrative support staff and / or students.

Required Qualifications

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience in program administration or related area.
