Watts is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager who will provide technical leadership for our process engineering and design teams.
As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will provide direction and priority on best practice focus areas and project scopes to leverage expertise across the plant.
Reporting to the Director of Carolina's Operations, you'll provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
You Will :
Support a team of manufacturing engineers, engineering technicians, and engineering services that are involved in developing processes for production including plant layout, machine selection, tooling, and standard work.
Oversee the development and implementation of all manufacturing processes to improve product cost, efficiency, and functionality of the factory.
Ensure agreement between the manufacturing engineering team and other manufacturing departments to promote a cohesive relationship.
Responsible for the development and project management of new capital equipment to help improve manufacturing processes.
Provide direction on projects to ensure that safety is a priority and an important part of the design and implementation of all and any projects.
Develop and evaluate engineering changes and specification requirements.
Support new product development (stage gate process) by ensuring proper and effective support of new product launches.
Oversee the creation of all manufacturing documentation (BOMs, routings, work instructions, SOPs) and ensures that production rates and machine cycle times are available / accurate / consistent for new products per the project plan.
Work directly with operations and continuous improvement to improve plant layout, material product flow, and plant efficiencies.
Support all control debugging, upgrades, and automation efforts in the factory.
Support the Extrusion of Pipe and Injection molding.
You Have :
MBA or Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, EMET, Industrial).
10+ years’ experience with manufacturing processes, new product introduction, machinery, and documentation.
Comprehensive experience applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to continuous improvement and new product introduction efforts is required.
Comprehensive knowledge of general mechanical engineering, mechanical design principles, and practices.
Knowledge of machine processes. Tooling and fixture design experience.
Experience in Extrusion process for Pipe manufacturing; knowledge on Plastic Injection Molding and related Dies.
Working Knowledge of Clean Rooms; spec and set up.
Project management experience in product development and manufacturing environments.
Prior experience leading and managing diverse work teams.
Experience with Microsoft Project software.
Experience in CAD and 3D software.
Required to travel domestically and internationally less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and / or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include : close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment :
Work in both office and manufacturing environment. May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting.
