For information about the University Budget Office, please visit : Position Summary The Senior Budget Analyst reports to the University Budget Director;
has a major focus and oversight in the following areas : internal and external reporting, position management, student fee committee budget advising, and other related duties.
The incumbent will provide advanced level of budgetary and analytical support to the University Budget Office. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Science or related field, plus four years’ experience related to budget development, analysis, and execution (such as analyzing financial information, forecasting program needs, monitoring expenditures, data analytics).
- OR -
- Bachelor’s degree, plus six years’ experience related to budget development, analysis and execution (such as analyzing financial information, forecasting program needs, monitoring expenditures, data analytics.)
- Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of budget development, policy and financial analysis.
- Advanced capabilities with standard business software, particularly as related to financial analysis, data management and reporting.
- Advanced Excel capabilities
- Ability to analyze financial, budgetary, and operational and organization problems, evaluate alternatives and reach sound, logical, fact-based conclusions.
Experience with data collection, interpretation and synthesis.
Ability to apply relevant laws, regulations, procedures and policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field
- Experience with PSU systems, including Banner, Cognos and TM1
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to the culture and diversity of an urban university.
- Experience working with diverse student in university or college environments
- Strong IT fundamentals and proven track record of synthesizing and solving problems using IT platforms and tools

Work Days / Hours Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band.
PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
The starting annual salary for this position will be between $66,732 and $95,052 but may be negotiated above this range, dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
