The Director of Events is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating all donor engagement events for YouVersion.

This role is pivotal in advancing donor relationships by creating impactful experiences that align with YouVersion's mission to resource everyone, everywhere, every day with God’s Word.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive event strategy that aligns with YouVersion's Donor Development goals, ensuring each event enhances donor engagement and communicates the impact of their contributions.
  • Design and curate unique event experiences and communication materials that effectively convey the mission and impact of YouVersion to donors, fostering deeper connections and support.
  • Lead all aspects of event production, including planning, scheduling, and managing resources and participation to ensure successful donor events.
  • Partner with event management contractors to oversee the creation and execution of events, ensuring alignment with YouVersion’s standards and objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate potential event venues for various event sizes, from intimate gatherings to large-scale events with up to 500 participants, selecting locations that maximize donor impact and experience.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of contracting and allocating hotel accommodations, ensuring efficient use and alignment with event priorities while providing a positive experience for donors.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with external vendors and contractors to secure necessary resources and ensure high-quality service delivery for events.
  • Monitor and manage event budgets and expenses, providing regular financial updates to leadership and ensuring all events are cost-effective and within budget.
  • Recruit, allocate, and oversee staff, volunteers, or contractors needed for event execution, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence in event planning and execution.
  • Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them, ensuring the safety and security of all event participants.
  • Evaluate event operations and gather feedback from stakeholders to identify best practices and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Skills Needed to Succeed

  • Proven experience in event management, preferably within a donor development or nonprofit environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to enhance donor engagement through events.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
