Job Description :
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Lakewood, Washington. The Sign Language Interpreter will provide interpretation services for deaf or hard of hearing students in educational settings.
They will work closely with students, teachers, and staff to ensure effective munication and access to learning opportunities.
Responsibilities :
- Provide sign language interpretation for students in classrooms, meetings, and school events.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to support student learning and development.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of interpreted sessions.
- Stay current with best practices in sign language interpretation.
- Participate in professional development activities as required.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent.
- Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified time frame.
- Previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and munication skills.
