Position Summary : The Insurance Verification Specialist responsibilities include making sure patients have proper insurance coverage for the services provided by the clinic and having successful face-to-face and over the phone interactions with patients and their insurance companies to give the patient the best care possible.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verifying insurance coverage of patients using various payers' websites
- Collecting payments for services in-person or by phone
- Explaining coverages to patients
- Obtaining referrals for patients when they are not covered
- Updating patient information / keeping records
- Filling out documentation required for billing
- Communicate with insurance companies and 3rd part billing company to resolve claim denials
- Collaborate with the billing department to track payments and resolve any insurance related issues
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in insurance verification procedures
- Handle any insurance related queries from internal and external stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years or more of previous health care insurance experience, preferred
- Clearances : Act 33, 34, and 73
- Proof of annual Flu Shot
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Work experience with insurance companies
- Ability to navigate the internet using various web portals
- Clear communication skills
- Detail-oriented
- Data entry skills
- Well organized
