Manager, Finance - Accounts Payable

Job Summary :

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for the oversight of the Accounts Payable payment function and will help to further centralize and develop Verano’s payment processes.

The role will lead the payment team and will be working cross-functionally with finance and operations to develop and streamline interaction model and make recommendations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Lead Accounts Payable payment team including :
• Payment processing, direct debit bank clearing and vendor master setup
• Maintain cash accounts and log all outgoing disbursements
• Ensure disbursements are executed in accordance with policy
• Oversee and manage a team that prepares payment run, off-cycle payments, and direct debit clearing
• Train, coach and develop skills of AP personnel
• Oversee weekly cash forecast and present to senior / executive leaders
• Monitor all vendor payment agreements to find discounts that can be used to reduce invoice amounts
• Run monthly aging report and provide analysis to management
• Develop governance and provide oversight of the direct debit process
• Mitigate debit balances that exist on vendor accounts
• Reconcile payable reports each month to confirm that all amounts paid were accurate
• Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) on payment failures, returns and duplicate payments
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in accounting, finance, or relevant major required
• 4+ years of direct experience required
• Must possess and demonstrate strong leadership skills
• Microsoft Office, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel, experience required
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have strong problem-solving and time management skills
• Must be able to execute and follow through to completion and documentation
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must be able to pass a state and federal criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications :

• A minimum of 4+ years of accounts payable experience preferred
• SAP S / 4HANA experience is a plus

The employee must occasionally move packages weighing up to 10 lb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close observation and the ability to adjust focus.
