AP Professionals has partnered with a premier company in Rochester to find a Manager of Accounting & Financial Reporting.
The ideal candidate for this role is a strategic and analytical thinker with strong management skills who can design, implement, and maintain best-in-class procedures and processes for accurate and timely financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the complete, accurate, and timely processing of financial data and reporting. Reviews internal and external monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (GAAP) and directs the analysis of financial results, addressing leadership questions and inquiries promptly.
- Ensures compliance with the company's policies and procedures (GAAP), making sure the accounting and financial reporting team follows proper operational procedures, policies, and internal controls.
Drives necessary revisions or modifications to policies and procedures to achieve best-in-class standards.
- Works with the Accounting and Financial Reporting teams to execute special projects and implement process improvements.
- Communicates and collaborates across the organization to execute enterprise-wide priorities and strategic initiatives.
- Fosters an environment that promotes the personal and professional growth of the Accounting and Financial Reporting staff by assembling a talented team, encouraging strong morale, responsibility, collaboration, and success.
- Directs research on new accounting standards and technical issues, analyzing their relevance and impact concerning generally accepted accounting principles.
- Acts as a liaison with external auditors.
- Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the company’s mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and embodying the values and beliefs.
- Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with corporate privacy policies and procedures.
- Keeps up-to-date with relevant legislative and regulatory mandates, ensuring all activities are compliant with these requirements.
- Conducts periodic staff meetings to distribute and educate the team about departmental and ethics and compliance information.
- Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
- CPA or MBA preferred.
Experience
- At least 6 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
- At least 2 years in a management role or equivalent experience in a leadership role
- Experience in public accounting or insurance preferred.
