The Business Development Division works with Tennessee producers and agricultural / forestry businesses to build rural economies and increase farm and forest derived income.
Development activities provide diverse growth opportunities, including industry and producer-focused incentives, as well as promotions that reach consumers and the non-farming public through a variety of methods.
How you make a difference in this role :
The Business Development Team works to attract new industry partners, as well as the expansion of existing agricultural and forestry businesses.
To facilitate this growth, our team partners with agencies ranging from local governments and regional retail chains to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, USDA Rural Development, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the University of Tennessee, Tennessee State University, UT / TSU Extension, and national and international trade associations like the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), U.
S. Livestock Genetics Exports (USLGE) and Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).
Key Responsibilities :
- Provides high-level administrative support to the Assistant Commissioner, including assistance with emails, phone calls, travel arrangements, and schedule.
- Record Requests
- coordinate response to divisional record requests
- Provide audio / visual assistance at divisional meetings.
- Compile division's weekly report
- Direct inquiries received in general email box and phone number to appropriate divisional employee.
- Review / proof all print materials prior to print as well as order business cards and name tags for employees as needed.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs for division's vehicles as well as coordinate tag registrations / renewals as needed.
- Division's point of contact with TDA's human resources office
- Timekeeping and travel
- review and approve time, travel documentation and expense claims as needed
- Intern Coordinator
- Conduct an annual analysis of need for divisional intern(s), compile job description(s), interview candidates, assign job duties and responsibilities, and complete university documentation for class credit.
- JLL point of contact - enter work orders for building and ensure work orders are satisfactorily completed.
- Building Security ' serve as building point of contact with Walden Security, serve as Security Coordinator for building, coordinate building access by scheduling coverage of door during operating hours and coordinate with Dept.
of General Services regarding badge access.
- Compile data for daily reports, record daily report in USDA's database and record daily report for radio and phone.
- Must be a critical thinker, possess complex problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
- Practice effective interpersonal skills when working with people at various levels across the department as well as with external stakeholders, including local and federal governmental officials, company executives, agribusiness industry professionals, and the public.
- Motivated and highly energetic performer with the flexibility to adapt to a variety of different situations.
- Must also be consistent and reliable. - Must be a self-starter who can work independently and expertly manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced and high-intensity environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required.
Minimum Qualifications :
Qualified candidates should possess a bachelor's degree. Candidates should also possess a minimum of five years' experience in business administration and / or program management.
