Switchgear Field Service Technician Responsibilities :
Perform timely and high-quality diagnostics and repairs on electrical power distribution equipment
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low, medium, and / or high voltage electrical systems
Conduct testing and measuring of low, medium, and / or high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
Perform inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of all electrical distribution equipment
Support sales and engineering teams in translating measurements into drawings
Carry out other installations, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair activities as needed
Switchgear Field Service Technician Requirements :
Minimum of 2 years' experience operating and working on electrical equipment in the field, including live equipment
BS in Engineering is a plus
Solid understanding of electrical codes, particularly NEC and local Chicago codes
Proficiency in reading and accurately interpreting wiring diagrams, single lines, 3-phase power systems, and switchboard / panel schedules
Solid understanding of low to high voltage switchgear, cabinets, switchboard enclosures, electricity, and strong problem-solving skills
MUST be comfortable handling and maintaining live equipment and demonstrate proper safety procedures
Excellent customer service, time management, and ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional off-hours for emergency customer issues
Experience in servicing, testing, and maintenance of switchgear is a plus
Experience with refurbishing electrical distribution equipment is a plus
Ability to work nights / weekends and travel within the state on occasion
