Internal Audit Actuary

France Paris, UK London, USA - Hartford or Stamford CT

In this role, you will support and influencing AXA XL Internal Audit actuarial team on actuarial audit matters issues. You will support the audit teams in deliveringchallenging but fair messages and insights constructively and with empathy within a political, complex and changing organisation.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Conduct internal audit work and participating in all aspects of planning, execution and reporting, with proactive update and feedback to the manager
  • Propose and perform actuarial and risk-based testing on all audit topics, including underwriting, reserving, pricing and risk management topics
  • Follow up on audit findings and recommendations, track management’s response and test implementation
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with professional and Group standards
  • Assist in the development of a division-wide risk-based audit plan
  • Effectively assess operational controls and determines overall impact on financial results
  • Participates in major business initiatives and proactively advises and assists the business on change initiatives, as assigned by senior audit management
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects bringing technical expertise as determined by senior audit management
  • Present audit conclusions to management
  • Share Actuarial and Risk Management awareness and knowledge
  • Make sure audit work is completed on time and in line with instructions
  • Make presentations to management and the audit team are prepared and tailored to the audience

You will report to Actuarial Internal Audit Manager.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills :

  • Graduate specializing in Actuarial Sciences. Professional certification would be a plus.
  • Proven experience as an actuary in Financial Services, Insurance or Internal Audit in an international context.
  • Robust understanding of theories and practices of P&C insurance. Experience in Commercial Insurance would be a plus.
  • Proven experience in P&C pricing, reserving, underwriting or reinsurance.
  • Be able to deal with sensitive and confidential audit issues using developed discretion and judgment, while maintaining independence and objectivity.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to convince of the value of his / her opinions.
  • Be result oriented with ability to focus on detailed tasks to achieve specified outcomes.
  • Be concerned with service quality and implementation / follow up.
  • Be able to work effectively alone or as part of a team, and think objectively demonstrating sound judgement.
  • Great ability to listen, a critical mind, a good analytical sense as well as capacity for synthesis.
  • Be resilient under pressure and possess outstanding problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to change.
  • Clear written and spoken English. French would be a plus
