Based in Baxter Springs, KS near the rapidly expanding Joplin, MO area, the Accounting Manager will report to the Assistant Controller and play a key role in driving and providing accurate financial reporting for the largest manufacturing facility within the $450mm+ Shape Technologies Group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following :
- Areas of work and oversight include accounts payable / receivable, and general ledger.
- Perform and review complex accounting analyses, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and internal control compliance.
- Coordinate and prepare for audits, including liaising with external auditors.
- Work with the Assistant Controller to supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff to ensure the team's effectiveness and professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the accounting function.
- Handle other ad hoc financial projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- In-depth understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and advanced knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Education / Experience and / or Training :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance, supervisory experience required.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience with a background in public accounting, 5-7 years of experience in industry with no public accounting
- Accounting experience in a manufacturing company is preferred.
- CPA designation preferred.
