Who you are : The individual in this position will be responsible for providing child care services to children whose parents are attending health education classes and or behavioral health activities at La Clinica.
Major Areas of Responsibility include but are not limited to :
Child Supervision
- Provides child care services up to eight children for two to three hours sessions during daytime and evening patient health classes and groups held at San Antonio Health Center.
- Provides child care for special events, such as conferences or trainings, for longer periods of time as needed.
- During child care sessions, must report any and all emergencies immediately to the staff person working with the class or group.
Play & Meal Planning
- Organizes and participates in games, reads to children, and teaches them simple painting, drawing, handwork, songs, and similar activities.
- Directs children in eating, resting. Maintains a harmonious environment.
- Maintains a safe play environment.
- Observes and monitors children's play activities
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Job Requirements
Knowledge
- Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
Abilities
- Ability to work with children in a responsible, reliable and calm manner.
- Positive, energetic attitude towards children is a must.
- Must be available to work on an on-call basis.
- Ability to remain reliable, responsible, and dependable in fulfilling obligations
- Bilingual Spanish / English required.
Experience
- Requires at least two years’ experience performing child care duties, including experience caring for several children at one time.
- CPR certification and First Aid training required. If not CPR and / or First Aid certified, applicant will be given one month to become certified.
CPR certification required prior to starting work.
- Must be willing and eligible to be fingerprinted.
