The Admissions Director shares the responsibility of developing the facility’s census in conjunction with the Director of Marketing.

While this individual cannot fill the building themselves, they are responsible for assisting the resident(s) and / or resident representatives in selecting our facility for continuing health care services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Verification of Insurance
  • Inputting Demographics into Point Click Care
  • Coordinates resident / patient referral and approval process.
  • Conducts tours of facility with potential residents / patients and their family members.
  • Tracks pre-admission referral activity daily / weekly.
  • Assures contracts are completed on a timely basis.
  • Ensures level of care approval obtained as indicated (PASSAR, HENS) is completed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Respond to inquiry calls from hospital discharge planners, families, and other referral sources.
  • Conduct facility tours.
  • Manage the admission process by maintaining updated bed availability and facility services information.
  • Manage the inquiry process professionally, timely, and with appropriate follow-up.
  • Effectively manage occupancy levels and census / premium mix enhancement.
  • Alerts appropriate department supervisors and building staff of projected changes, i.e., admissions, bed changes, and discharges, by chairing daily admission meeting to discuss forthcoming changes.
  • Utilize bed management principles.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, and Business Office Manager to assure appropriate and efficient decisions about prospective admissions.
  • Recommend admission decisions to facility management.
  • When admissions determinations are made, communicate with nursing and housekeeping about appropriate room and bed selection.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One or more years’ experience in healthcare setting.
  • Must be familiar with medical terminology.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer.
  • Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Manage Care.
  • Understanding of Point Click Care.
  • Experience with Insurance Verification and approval for skilled stay.
