Senior Internal Auditor
Reports to

Summary / Objective
The Senior Internal Auditor will perform audits of Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation and the Red Wind Casino organization’s financial and information systems, assessing compliance with applicable standards and guidelines and sufficiency of internal controls.
This position is 75% operational and 25% mix between compliance and financial controls.
Essential Functions
- Audits the company’s financial records, statements, and reports, verifying accuracy and consistency.
- Audits the company’s information systems, assessing compliance with data security and storage requirements.
- Reviews internal controls, policies, and procedures for effectiveness.
- Drafts and presents reports of findings and analysis; identifies and recommends revisions and improvements to accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Develop the planning and scoping for simple to moderately complex reviews to ensure appropriate audit coverage.
- Perform walkthroughs to develop understanding of processes & controls, identify areas of risk and develop tests accordingly.
- Perform testing, data analysis and benchmarking, as appropriate, to assess controls.
- Identify issues / opportunities to improve operations and the related root cause and impact.
- Conclude on the adequacy of management’s processes and internal controls to mitigate risk.
- Prepare reporting to communicate audit results.
- Lead meetings and present to management on issue / opportunities identified.
- Effectively manage project progress and status, including budget / milestone tracking and reporting.

Supervisory Responsibilities
There is no supervisory responsibility for this position currently.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with days and hours of work being Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Eligibility for hybrid work after probationary period has been completed will be offered. This employee is required to live within two hours from the Red Wind Casino and Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation corporate offices.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Requires a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience with a public accounting firm, management consulting firm or large / complex internal audit department (excluding internship).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to interface well with all levels of management.
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and reporting.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Extremely proficient with accounting software.
Preferred Education and Experience
- MBA.
- 2+ years of casino experience, specifically with NIGC MICS audits.
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior-level auditor or controller position.
Rate of Pay
$92,000-$145,000 per year (DOE)
