Assistant Director, Internships - Hybrid

The Assistant Director for Internships will provide logistical coordination and support for many aspects of the centrally coordinated Wellesley College internship program infrastructure. Reporting to the Director for Internships, this position plays a key role in stewarding many of the crucial day-to-day activities of the programs, including the management and improvement of the internship operations, applicant recruitment and support, maintaining and developing program materials, managing student communications, supporting the professional development of students, and processing stipends.
Position Responsibility :
- In collaboration with the Director for Internships, maintain, develop, and improve policies, resources, and procedures relevant to campus internships, projects, and grants with the goal of increasing clarity, efficiency and accessibility of programs
- Support the maintenance of program budgets, processing student stipends and reimbursements related to program (i.e. housing, transportation, and other expenses as applicable)
- Participate in internship application review and selection. Manage student communications regarding application results
- Partnership Management and Portfolio Development (20%)
- Serve as a liaison and point of contact with select campus departments and programs to support program facilitation
- Oversee the Lumpkin Nonprofit Internship Program in partnership with the Civic Engagement team to deliver a diverse group of partnership site opportunities for students annually in the Boston area
- Develop new internship partners under the growing 'Employer-Funded Internship' portfolio. This program targets small to midsize organizations and startups, offering marketing, application, and recruitment support in exchange for positions held for Wellesley students
Program Marketing and Communication :
Maintain clear communication about program policies, procedures and timelines with internship and grant program selection committeesSupport campus-wide efforts to increase the knowledge and promotion regarding funded internship and and grant opportunitiesDevelop and make easily available written resources for students that offer guidance to support their summer experienceStudent Support :
Provide logistical support to students participating in the Wellesley College internship programs and the grant programs sponsored through Career EducationProvide assistance to internship applicants and internship awardees; and serve as a student point of contact for the internships programMonitor student progress on and completion of internship participation requirements, checking in with students as requiredIn collaboration with the Program Director for Internships, coordinate and facilitate info sessions, a pre-departure orientation, an end of summer debrief event and other activities for student participants in internship and grant programsCross-Functional Teams and College Initiatives :
Serve on various cross-functional teams to promote the vision and direction of the Career EducationServe as a liaison to College departments as appropriateParticipate in Wellesley committees providing representation of Career Education on community issues as requiredEducation Required :
1-3 years relevant experience in education, internships, or program development with a focus on student engagement, youth development, and / or education AND Bachelor's degreeOR Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Leadership, Organizational Development, International Education or Relations, or other relevant advanced degreeExperience Required :
Experience in developing and executing programs, events and resources geared towards a student audience, including training and facilitationBeginner level experience working with budgets or tracking financesPrevious experience working with students (any grade level) or college-aged individualsExperience in stakeholder or partnership managementSkills and Abilities :
