Job Title : Armed Security Guard
Location : Provo, UT
Status : Part-time
Hours : Monday Friday, 6 : 30 a.m. 10 : 30 a.m.
Pay / Hourly : $18.00 $20.00
SUMMARY
The Armed Security Guard is to protect assigned property, promote and enforce safety and security and act as a visible deterrent against irregular activity.
The Armed Security Guard will foster positive relationships with faculty and staff and will be responsible for ensuring compliance and adherence to rules, regulations, policies, procedures, codes and laws to maintain a quality campus environment.
Must be licensed as an armed guard under Utah DOPL requirements, or be able to complete the Utah DOPL armed guard training in a timely manner from date of hire.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Assist the Security & Risk Manager, to assure proper security and safety of the college property and environment
- Operates the Life Safety Systems. Performs inspections of the Life Safety Systems.
- Patrol designated property to monitor and prevent intrusion, damage, hazards and breaches of security
- Protect property and tenants from theft, damage, trespassing or accidents
- Provide a visible presence that enforces safety and security
- Identify and investigate suspicious behavior, threats and irregular activity
- Respond to alarms and requests for help
- Monitor and control entrance and departure of employees, students, and visitors according to prescribed protocol
- Detect and confront unauthorized persons and violators of security procedures
- Check property through electronic monitoring systems
- Enforce relevant laws and regulations pertaining to all individuals on the property
- Report rule infractions and violations
- Monitor and prevent movement of prohibited items into and out of property
- Conduct exterior property checks for maintenance issues, malfunctions or hazards
- Contact relevant authorities to deal with unlawful or irregular activities
- Use radio or other communication devices in a clear and concise manner
- Prepare written reports of daily activities, observations and incidents
- Implement the prescribed emergency plan in case of emergency
- Maintain a current State of Utah DOPL Armed Guard license.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform foot patrols
- This is an armed guard position. Must be licensed as an armed guard under Utah DOPL requirements, or be able to complete the Utah DOPL armed guard training in a timely manner from date of hire.
- May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check; possess a valid driver's license issued by the State of Utah and have an acceptable driving record
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Working knowledge of security operations, safety practices, and safety equipment.
- Working knowledge of enforcement policies and procedures.
- Requires demonstrated ability to work with individuals of all racial, ethnic, and social-economic backgrounds.
- Possess strong professional demeanor with considerable interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, diplomacy and cooperative problem-solving skills, for work with students, citizens, local, state and federal officials, and other employees.
