Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties.
Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance.

The Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA)’s primary mission is to provide quality workforce training solutions to the greater Richmond / Crater area.
Through a memorandum of understanding with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), CCWA is responsible for offering VDOT certification courses across the state.
The Assistant Coordinator / Instructor for Technical Programs will be responsible for facilitation of non-credit certification programs specifically related to CCWA’s VDOT and Construction Trades programming.
Upon hire, this position will become certified to teach the VDOT and Construction Trades certification courses. The instructor will facilitate instruction at various locations across the state of Virginia.
The instructor will develop curriculum, perform quality control checks of the certification curriculum, maintain lab equipment, perform outreach, and be available for employer meetings to act as the subject matter expert for the curriculum.
The ability to teach in a technical laboratory, classroom, and online format is required. Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's / Required Qualifications Associate’s and / or bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a minimum of two (2) years of related occupational experience required.
Considerable knowledge and experience of the highway construction industry. Knowledge of adult training methods, curriculum design and development, and evaluation methodology.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate customized certification training programs to targeted industries. Demonstrated ability to train other instructors in classroom management and instruction.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of training participants, faculty, staff, and business and community partners.
Demonstrated ability to conduct professional presentations to employers and workforce partners. Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
Demonstrated ability to complete projects and assignments independently with minimal supervision. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Certifications will be required prior to teaching or proctoring exams.
Additional Considerations Experience working as a trainer for highway construction inspectors and operators, or instructional experience in construction trades.
Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees No Required Travel This position will facilitate instruction at various locations across the state of Virginia.
