Our client located in Trenton, NJ has an immediate need for an Accounting Clerks for 3-6months with the possibility of extension.
Accounting Clerk will perform data entry, processes transactions, and understand system functions, reports and customer data.
Additionally, Accounting Clerk will review and verify accuracy of payment postings, processes refunds and default claims, and creates default masters.
Candidates must understand how to post payments from borrowers and be able to work in excel. Accuracy is one of the most important attributes.
Please note this position is Full Time, pays $20 / hr. and is fully on site.
Responsibilities :
- Perform all required manual loan payment posting processes for the NJCLASS loan program.
- Creates Excel spreadsheets and uploads transactions to mainframe system.
- Complete other tasks related to loan payment posting, including spreadsheet editing and supervision of staff assisting with posting.
- Correct erroneous postings and make borrower requested changes to payment postings on the NJCLASS loan system as requested by the servicing / collections unit.
- Provide finance support for other programs besides NJCLASS, including Accounts Payable.
- Help manage NJCLASS default & SCRA portfolios on back-end system.
- Preparation & mailing of refund checks to customers due to overpayments on NJCLASS loans.
- Provide supporting documentation for verification of refund information & enter pursuit messages related to above task.
- Manage daily & weekly ACH return items (e.g. reversals due to stop payments, insufficient funds, etc.) for NJCLASS.
- Properly maintain NJCLASS payment processing files in Building 2 storage room.
- Process void & re-issue checks, as well as other non-routine tasks relating to refund process.
