Simulation Operation Specialist

Position Summary Information

Summary Provides administrative and facilitative support for the operations and technical function and safety of daily simulation-based learning activities under the direction of the Director of Simulation and Standardized Patient Program within the College of Nursing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborates in the development of simulation-based instructional and training components for faculty,students, and standardized patients.
• Assists with the development and validation of simulation scenarios.
• Assists in maintaining and evaluating data collection related to simulation activities.
• Prepares the simulation equipment and other learning technologies to support learning activities.
• Operates computer hardware and audio-video recording systems.
• Manages the maintenance of simulation technology and equipment.
• Provides training and orientation of new simulation technicians.
• Organizes reference materials for simulation procedures and equipment.
• Assists with annual simulation program quality improvement plan.
• Maintains simulation equipment and departmental records.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position is responsible for assigning work and / or giving

direction to office staff and student workers, in order to complete work assignments. Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform

• Simulation Technician Certification and / or education preferred.
• Ability to obtain Simulation Technician Certification within 2 years of hiring.
• Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
• Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
• Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Knowledge of the University’s mission, purpose, and goals.

Education and / or Experience Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A Certified Simulation Operational Specialist (CSOS) is preferred, and certification is required within 2 years of hire.
