Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Fieldwork, School Relationships, and Partners : Manage the UTR coaching program course teaching mentoring and coaching to UTR student coaches;
  • Align the coaching program with UTR courses and schools using data (i.e., collect data from observations of teachers in the field);

Build relationships with leaders in support of UTR students and alumni. Develop new partnerships between schools and districts with UTR.

Evidence-based ongoing program improvement and student support : Use data to ensure students are meeting requirements (analyze certification requirement data, including praxis test scores, PDE 430s, course grades, fieldwork, etc.

Lead the student advising system, including developing and overseeing student improvement plans related to the data above to successfully advise students;

Implement feedback loop and whole team engagement with data and improvement planning.

  • Pipeline of recruitment, support, and retention in the teaching profession and in particular in Philadelphia : Mange UTR’s intergenerational communities of practice (ex : affinity groups for teachers lead by UTR teaching alumni);
  • Foster the development of students’ teacher identities by engaging them in the intellectual work of teaching from undergraduates through veteran teachers;

Curate teacher professional development based on needs identified in coaching, courses, and data.

Advise a cohort of first-year students. Meet individually with advisees twice a semester; Support students in their graduate and professional goals;

Follow-up on the academic and certification progress of your specific advisees and identify trends to address and advising meetings and for program improvement.

Teach 1 course in the program each academic year. Based on content expertise, teach one course a year in the UTR or Urban Education program;

Courses in UTR meet once a week for 2 or 3 hours in the evenings.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED :

A Master's degree and 2-3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience supporting novice teachers in high-need urban schools

Experience teaching in urban public schools

Ability to teach at the graduate level

PREFERRED :

At least 5-7 years of experience working in education

Teaching experience in Philadelphia

Knowledge of special education or science

Previous experience teaching at the graduate level
