Description
The Peer Support Coordinator will provide culturally-competent prevention and support services for the diverse LGBTQ communities of Santa Clara County.
As part of the County of SantaClaraBehavioralHealthDepartment’sCulturalCommunitiesWellnessProgram(CCWP),thisroleis intended to help make the public behavioral health system more culturally-competent and consumer- and family-driven for the LGBTQ population in Santa Clara County.
This program will seek to reduce disparities in access to services for the LGBTQ Community due to stigma, discrimination, and lack of awareness about mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention services.

- Providesdirectclientservices;mentorspeersupportworkersandvolunteers
- Managesthedevelopmentofoutreachmaterials
- RepresentsLGBTQWellnessatoutreacheventsthroughoutSantaClaraCounty
- Managestheoutreachandworkshopcalendarandschedulingofpeersupportworkersand volunteers
- Ensuresdataiscollectedandrecordedandmonitorsaccuracyandcompleteness;assistswith program reporting. Provides appropriate documentation and paperwork as needed
- Offerstrainingsinmentalhealth,suicideawarenessandprevention,andSOGIE(SexualOrientation, Gender Identity, and Expression)
- Develops,promotes,andfacilitatespeersupportandsocialgroupsforLGBTQIA+adults
- DevelopseffectiveworkingrelationshipswithagenciesandorganizationstoadvocateforLGBTQIA+ consumers and family / caregiver empowerment including self-help and wellness / recovery movements
- Providesreferralstovariouscountyagencies,communitymentalhealthorganizations,accessing benefits, personal medical services, social and recreational opportunities, special events, conferences, workshops and training
- Attendsadditionaltrainingsandmeetingsasrequired
Qualifications,SkillsandAbilities :
Educationand / orExperience : Associatedegreeplus2years’experienceinhumanservices,ora
preferred a bachelor’sdegreeinsocialsciencesorrelatedfield,preferred.
- Strongdesireandcommitmenttoadvocateforthementalhealthandwellnessconcernsofdiverse LGBTQ populations and individuals
- Bilingualdesired(Spanish,Vietnamese,TagalogorMandarin).
- Excellentoral&writtencommunicationskills;stronginterpersonalskills
