Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Visit UC Benefit package to discover benefits that start on day one, and UC Total Compensation Estimator to calculate the total compensation value with benefits.

    • Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a gift planning professional, ideally in a higher education or medical setting, or related field working with outright gifts, deferred gift arrangements and experience with a wide variety of assets, i.e., real estate, securities, closely held stock, tangible personal property. (Required)
  • Knowledge and experience in utilizing all mechanisms of outright and deferred gift plans offered at UCLA and any combination thereof. (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of fund-raising in a university setting with a strong understanding of the goals, functions and services of a research university or institution of equivalent complexity. (Required)
  • Broad and thorough knowledge of the principles of tax-encouraged philanthropy and knowledge of current pertinent tax laws and other legislation affecting the charitable sector to determine its impact upon gifts from individuals. (Required)
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement a variety of complex development or comparable programs and activities. (Required)
  • Skill in and / or ability to develop and implement sophisticated strategies for successful cultivation and solicitation of major, planned and principal gifts – outright and / or life income arrangements or other transactions of a similar nature, level and complexity. (Required)
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce proposals for planned gifts or comparable solicitations and a variety of marketing materials as needed. (Required)
  • Strong communication skills to persuasively express both orally and in writing the mission of UCLA, the Health Sciences and related fund-raising goals, as well as complex principles of tax-encouraged philanthropy. (Required)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with other development professionals, deans, senior faculty and administrators, professional advisors, donors and volunteers. (Required)
  • Ability to establish priorities; manage multiple tasks and multi-phase projects simultaneously from inception to completion; and complete work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision. (Required)
  • Strong ability to recruit, orient, train, organize, motivate and evaluate the efforts of volunteers and support staff to fulfill goals and objectives. (Required)
  • Impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, alumni, students, administrators and colleagues as well as confidential information. (Required)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications as well as familiarity with other applications, programs and databases as needed with a willingness to learn new technologies. (Required)
