Position Summary :

The CNC Machinist is responsible for the machining, fabrication, and assembly of products in accordance with applicable drawings and assembly procedures.

Responsibilities :

  • Manufacture parts, sub-assemblies, and units to exact specifications according to manufacturing information from prints, engineering drawings, oral instruction, etc.
  • Operate and setup, misc. manual equipment (lathes, mills, drill press).
  • Operate, setup, and program CNC lathe.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance.
  • Use hand tools and assemble parts as required.
  • Maintain and fix shop tools and equipment.
  • Organize inventory and shop equipment.
  • Operate cranes and forklifts upon proper certification.
  • Perform all operations according to prescribed safety principles.
  • Keep assigned area neat and orderly.
  • Record labor into ERP system.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Proficiency operating, setting up, and programming both manual and CNC equipment used for manufacturing.
  • A thorough working knowledge of shop math and geometric tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of general hand tool use including drill presses, chop saws, and band saws.
  • Ability to read and interpret a wide variety of written instructions, prints, sketches, and detect and correct errors.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to variations in assembly with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read measuring devices, both in English and Metric.
  • Ability to perform work while standing or stooping for long periods of time, and to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Conveyor system experience preferred.
