JOB SUMMARY : Assists in the care of Behavioral Health patients in a Medical Office environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Act as a liaison between patients and Providers.
- Conduct initial and follow-up assessments for patients.
- Educates patients on behavioral health, medication management, and lifestyle changes that impact psychiatric health.
- Assist patients with prescription refills as needed.
- Assist patients with Medication Assistance Programs as needed.
- Assist with the filling out of Pre-Authorization forms as needed.
- Assist with form submission for Providers as needed. (ie, DMV, Disability, ML, FMLA)
- Assist in the education, training, and development of new clinical staff.
- Responsible to be up-to-date and capable of performing MA competencies.
- Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for the age of the patents being served.
- Triage patient calls and inquiries, providing guidance or escalating concerns to the provider.
- Maintain thorough and accurate patient records, documenting assessments, procedures, and education provided.
- Ensure all documentation complies with clinic and regulatory guidelines.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Verify that incoming referrals are being processed in a timely manner.
- Actively participates in the Continued Quality Improvement (CQI) process.
- Assists with special projects (implementation of new processes in the offices or special clinics offered)
- Assist receptionists as needed. (Ability to schedule patients needing to be seen for post op or other).
- Perform such related duties not listed herein but deemed in the best interest of the Medical Practices and NMMC.
Requirements
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :
- Required : RN License in the State of Maine and computer proficiency.
- Preferred : Prior experience in a medical office or Orthopedic setting. Leadership and supervisory experience. Bilingual (fluent in French) is desired, but not mandatory,
WORKER TRAITS :
This position requires patience and tact in communicating with people of varying education levels and backgrounds. Accuracy is essential in communicating information to patients, in recording messages, composing correspondence, making appointments and keeping records.
- Effective communication skills. Verbal ability is necessary for reading comprehension.
- The ability to plan, organize and implement activities.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently.
- Clerical perception is necessary to sort and scan reports and records, and the ability to assure the correct file is being updated.
