Lead Estimator, to oversee the production of accurate and competitive project bids.

The Lead Estimator will lead the estimating team and oversee all pre-construction activities, ensuring accurate and competitive project bids.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in construction estimating.
The Director of Estimating will work closely with the executive team, project managers, and clients to deliver high-quality estimates that align with REDCOM's standards and client expectations.
Job Responsibilities :
Leadership and Management :
- Lead and mentor the estimating team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Develop and implement estimating policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development for team members.
Estimating and Pre-Construction :
- Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for all projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Oversee creation of bid packages once client RFP's and bid requirements have been determined; ensure bidders have been compared, leveled and qualified.
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Ensure all estimates are accurate, competitive, and align with project requirements and client expectations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Monitor market trends and industry developments to stay informed about cost fluctuations and new technologies.
- Contribute to the development of business strategies and goals related to estimating and pre-construction.
Collaboration and Communication :
- Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements.
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on cost-related matters.
- Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
- Prepare and communicate presentations to clients; conceptualize and revise the design of a project, as necessary, until the final proposal is agreed upon.
- Support the Design Services team in developing a best cost approach for Design / Build needs; review Design Services' progress and identify shortfalls in design development
- Lead collaboration with Project Management team to streamline and integrate Scope writing, bid leveling and negotiation of the best possible price for both Bid Build proposals and Awarded Construction projects.
Sales :
- Assist in qualifying leads by strategizing best way to meet potential clients' needs
- Provide workflow and coordinate / monitor due dates
- Ensure estimating team has gained solid understanding of project scope and requirements.
Qualifications :
- 1+ year management experience
- 5-10 years' experience in commercial general contracting; Bid / Build and Design / Build
- 6+ years' experience in estimating commercial construction.
- Ability to work in a both team and individual settings.
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in relevant field; Masters degree a plus.
- Strong computer aptitude; technically savvy; Microsoft Office & Project Experience
- Must be able to perform on-screen takeoffs.
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Strong math and writing skills
Job Conditions :
This position is primarily an office position with frequent visits to jobsites and / or client meetings.
This position requires frequent communication with the VP of Pre-Construction, Design Professionals, and
Sales staff in a fast-paced setting. Some overtime may be required to meet tight deadlines or to account for travel to client meetings or jobsites.
