Position Information Job Title Instructor - English Department English Essential Functions The First Year Writing Program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position in first year writing / composition beginning spring semester 2025 on January 13, 2025.

This is a 9-month appointment with the possibility for renewal. We seek candidates committed to pursuing excellence in teaching who possess strong student-centered pedagogical abilities and a sensitivity to equity-minded teaching practices, including issues of diversity and social justice.

Candidates should be adept at working with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and those traditionally underrepresented in American higher education.

This position is a 4-4 teaching load consisting primarily of ENGL1150 (college writing and rhetoric) and ENGL1160 (college writing and research), with the eventual possibility of occasional lower-division courses, depending on applicant’s qualifications.

Candidates must have a minimum of an MA in English and experience teaching first year writing at the post-secondary level.

Of interest are candidates who have ELL experience.

In addition, some service or committee work is required. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in English. The candidate will have experience as an instructor of first-year writing at the post-secondary level.
