The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) at The City College of New York (CCNY) located in the heart of Harlem, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan.
Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, we transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine in 2017.
The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS / MD (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master’s Degree (27 months program).

The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) is seeking a Director of Admissions who will define and implement a clear vision for admission for CUNY SoM's growing number of health professional programs including the BS / MD, MD, PA and other programs.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Admissions and Financial Aid, and work in collaboration with the Senior Associate Deans for Student Life and Wellness, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, and Director of the Learning Resource Center, this position is responsible for strategic planning and management of the admissions office for the CUNY School of Medicine in fulfillment of the school’s mission.
The Director will provide leadership, oversight for the Admissions office and assist in decision-making and optimizing efficiency based on priorities established by the Associate Dean and the Dean and will collaborate with CUNY leadership and its senior colleges to support the medical school’s operations and the Dean’s strategic initiatives.
This position will provide focused analytical data, oversee the reconciliation and reporting on all CUNY School of Medicine financial accounts and will be responsible for an accurate financial analysis of factors that may impact the medical school’s operating budget.
The Director will communicate and present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
This position will establish and implement policies and processes as required to ensure fulfillment of accreditation standards relating to admissions, and to ensure that admissions processes aligns with national best practices.
Responsibilities will include among others :
- Provide guidance and support to academic and career advisors in the health professions within and outside CUNY
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with school leadership, faculty and administrators from key offices such as Learning Resource Center and Office of Academic Affairs.
- Communicate with faculty and department administrators about admissions policies and procedures; provide resource referral for external issues that may affect matriculation
- Serve on ad hoc and standing committees that address student academic assessment
- Process, track and report on student advising, recruiting and admissions activities
- Participate as appropriate in the implementation of CUNY SoM orientation, pipeline, and pre-matriculation activities. Attend events during evenings and weekends as is necessary and appropriate
- Collaborate with stakeholders in developing activities that strengthen student preparation
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned, including occasional evening or weekend events.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with 7-year BS / MD, MD, PA, linkage and enhancement programs in the health professions
- Knowledge of health professional careers and career requirements and admissions policies, procedures.
- Extensive experience with AMCAS software and the application process
- Previous experience with health professional student advising, linkage programs, and enhancement programs
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with diverse student body
