Job Summary :
The Assistant Hyperbaric Safety Officer provides professional hyperbaric care to patients / families and the community through planning and implementing patient care in conjunction with licensed staff.
Works together with unit leadership and Safety Officers to assess, implement, maintain, and document the hyperbaric safety program to ensure continued successful accreditation cycles.
The Assistant Hyperbaric Safety Officer exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.
Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and trainings in support of the Hyperbaric Safety Program. Acts on behalf of the Hyperbaric Safety Officer when the officer is not available.
Assists Hyperbaric Safety Officer with activities to support patients receiving hyperbaric treatment. Maintains operational records for all hyperbaric program equipment, trouble shoots equipment issues, removes chambers from service if unsafe, and assists in scheduling preventative maintenance & calibration.
Assist / conduct hyperbaric safety in-service trainings. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelors degree and 3 years of hyperbaric related experience or Associates degree and 5 years of hyperbaric related experience required.
Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) or Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN) certification required. Current CPR-BLS and CPR-ACLS certification required by time of appointment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills needed.
Preferred Qualifications :
Current Paramedic certification or other CHT qualifying pathway certification / license preferred : (. Respiratory Therapist, Physician Assistant, Active Duty Military Corpsman, RN, LPN, NP, or Physician).
Hyperbaric Safety Officer training and experience preferred.

Days with on call responsibilities
