Duties and Responsibilities :

The School of Education (SOE) at Loyola University Chicago invites applications for a 1-year (2024 2025 academic year) non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position in the School Psychology program area .

The selected individual will join faculty in the SOE’s CAEP-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs, all of which are shaped around the SOE’s conceptual framework of advancing professionalism in the service of social justice.

The School Psychology Program is NASP and APA approved.

The main responsibilities of the selected candidate include the following :

  • Primary responsibility of teaching.
  • Maintain a 2 / 3 teaching load (teaching two courses in the fall and three in the spring or vice versa depending on course needs / interests) of graduate courses in the NASP-approved EdS and APA-accredited PhD programs.

Other courses may include teaching courses for the EdD CAEP-accredited fully online program designed for practicing school psychologists.

  • Serve as the Capstone Director for 6-8 culminating capstone projects for students in the EdD program. This responsibility is equivalent to teaching one course each semester.
  • Advise school psychology students, engage in service and program development to the school psychology programs, specifically in taking a lead role in the delivery of cohort and program specific trainings and events with graduate students, provide service to the SOE, and the larger university, community, and profession.

Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in assessment, prevention, intervention, individual and systems-level consultation and collaboration within a MTSS framework.

We seek candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to anti-racist school psychology pedagogy, urban education, and dedication to serving a historically minoritized P-12 student body in the greater Chicago area consistent with Loyola University Chicago’s commitment to advancing social justice through transformative education.

Candidates will demonstrate a commitment to collegiality and collaboration within the School Psychology programs and larger SOE and University community.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Earned doctorate in School Psychology, preferably from an APA and NASP accredited program
  • Licensed and credentialed school psychologist through the state education agency

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of experience as a practicing school psychologist
  • Experience supervising school psychology practicum students and / or interns
  • Holding the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential
  • Bilingual expertise and experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse P-12 students
