Mountain View Hospital is looking for an Office Assistant - Billing and Referrals to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY :
Primarily this position will provide support for billing, prior authorizations, and referral management. However, it will also provide support for the entire office when necessary and will be accountable for the performance of clerical functions to support smooth operations of the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Must have organizational skills sufficient to plan and carry out activities once assignments have been made.
2. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient, business, and employee information.
3. Performs typing, filing, copying, mailing, phone reception, or other clerical functions and run errands as directed.
4. Required to obtain and follow insurance authorizations and referrals (Healthy Connections, VA, etc.)
5. May unpack supplies and stock inventory if assigned.
6. Demonstrate a willingness to perform all requested job related tasks.
7. The employee is required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
8. Answers phone calls appropriately and professionally and takes messages in full detail.
9. Anticipates the needs of those served, craves new knowledge and new experience, delivers very best every day such that work makes a difference.
Identifies not only problems, but suggest solutions. Consistently looks for ways to run good to BEST .
10. Processes medical records and medical records requests.
11. Processes and sorts all incoming mail.
12. Responsible for running insurance eligibility processing and data entry of insurance information. This will include the entry of copay information to be collected up front.
13. Reviews information input by other clerks to ensure accuracy.
14. Will be required to fill in at check-in or check-out positions as needed.
15. Accurately sorts and labels incoming fax queue for entire office.
16. Assistance with incoming office and OAE referrals as needed
17. Responsible for scheduling patients to be seen in the office. Accurately obtains appropriate histories, prior diagnostic tests results and all other necessary information to facilitate constructive patient visits to the office.
Verifies that healthy connection referrals are in place, if required.
18. Responsible for obtaining signature on Condition of Admission forms.
19. Responsible for gathering correct information for proper insurance submission.
20. Communicates appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, coworkers, and physicians to facilitate efficient daily work flow.
21. Participates in educational programs, completes annual education
requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
22. Receives patient payments or a co-payment as required. Posts transactions appropriately to system. Counting money drawer and verifying correct amount at the beginning and end of every shift.
23. Performs and maintains prior authorization requests and denials, including insurance denial appeals. 24. Responsible for assistance in billing.
Includes office balancing, patient billing inquiries, etc. 25. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education / Certification : Education / Certification : High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience : Experience with insurance, prior authorizations, billing, and customer service preferred.
Language / Communication : Ability to speak effectively and politely, before groups of customers and or employees of the organization.
Equipment / Technology : Must possess basic typing and computer skills. Must possess a valid Idaho driver’s license, meet minimum Idaho State automobile insurance requirements, and have the use of an automobile for transportation and use in performing assigned duties.
Mental Capabilities : Able to follow basic commands and learn how to operate an electronic medical record in a proper and accurate manner.
Interpersonal : Must be capable of taking direction from a variety of people, since this individual performs diverse functions as needed throughout the organization.
Must possess pleasant phone demeanor and customer service attitude.
Performance : Ability to respond to fluctuations in work load. Must possess visual acuity and manual dexterity sufficient for performance of typing and filing duties.
