General Overview

This Senior Project Manager role will focus on developing and implementing health equity strategies to improve the overall quality, experience, and outcomes of care for MGB patients, with a focus on primary care and other outpatient (ambulatory) settings.

This role will additionally help support quality and safety initiatives as part of the MGB Ambulatory Quality and Safety Team in the MGB Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO).

This position requires strong organizational and project management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, professional maturity and ability to prioritize and adapt in a complex environment.

The position also requires a high degree of autonomy. The position requires collaboration with other teams within OCMO and other departments and sites within the Mass General Brigham Enterprise.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Supports the broader MGB Ambulatory Quality and Safety (AQS) portfolio to advance through a health equity lens key system strategies tied to ambulatory care , including efforts aligned with MGB’s United Against Racism and For Every Patient campaigns.

Works closely with AQS and United Against Racism (UAR) medical and administrative leaders to lead development and implementation of health equity-focused strategies to close disparities in health outcomes, with a focus on patients in the ambulatory setting.

o Current high priority UAR areas include cardiovascular disease (hypertension), cancer, nutrition / food insecurity, and asthma.

Manages key deliverables aligned to the Ambulatory Quality and Safety portfolio of work , including but not limited to :

o Strategy development for primary care health equity initiatives including research of best practices in health care and public health, informing data needs, interpreting data / defining key takeaways for senior leaders

o Preparation of materials for and facilitation of key meetings with stakeholders across MGB

Accountable for developing project roadmaps to support program strategy, policy and measurement for United Against Racism work within primary care and other outpatient settings by partnering closely OCMO clinical leaders / administrative director.

Manage collaboration and coordination with other MGB departments to support implementation of system wide initiatives and measurement of / response to initiative performance

Work closely with other departments to inform operational model and achieve key milestones

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-8 years of experience (Masters preferred).
  • Experience related to health equity required
  • Experience related to quality / safety metrics measurement / monitoring or primary care operations preferred

Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • Experience with and strong commitment to addressal of disparities in health care, promotion of health equity, principles of anti-racism work, and considerations for respectful engagement with historically marginalized populations
  • Background knowledge of principles of community health work, patient navigation, social drivers / determinants of health, and population health strategies preferred
  • Relevant lived experience strongly welcomed (., could include lived experience with social drivers / determinants of health needs, as a member of a group that has been historically marginalized or excluded, as a patient or family member of a patient with one of the health conditions of focus)
  • Ability to navigate and work effectively in a highly matrixed, collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve critical issues efficiently and effectively, interpreting complex and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and technical skills relating to data for analysis and presentation
  • Ability to critically read, synthesize and summarize existing public health, health equity, or ambulatory quality and safety literature
  • Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses an ability to learn quickly and self-manage.
  • Ability to effectively plan and facilitate both informal and formal meetings
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and projects, meet deadlines, and manage to schedule.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills that demonstrate the ability to synthesize and distill complex information appropriately, with the ability to deliver presentations to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Proven ability to develop effective relationships and build partnerships, working collaboratively with various stakeholders either internal to department, or externally, to meet shared objectives.
  • Practices active and attentive listening skills to verify understanding
  • Strong PC / Microsoft application skills including Word, Advanced Excel, and PowerPoint.
