The Rain City Rock Camp (RCRC) Executive Director represents the mission and vision of our community and works to center youth voices in all areas of program development.
The ED also ensures the long-term sustainability of the organization through fundraising and other revenue-generating activities;
sound fiscal and structural health; and develops and leads equity and anti-racist practices and policies in the organization to ensure Rock Camp is a welcoming place for all.
This role requires daily communication and collaboration with a working board, full- and part-time staff, youth from all over Seattle ages 8-17, educators, volunteers, community partners, families, donors, and government agencies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Revenue Generation and Financial Management
Design and oversee the implementation of all fundraising activities including the annual gala, grant-writing, GiveBig, and individual giving through donor and volunteer stewardship, campaigns, and effective cultivation of ambassadors across the RCRC community.
Ensure that all staff and board are involved in one or more revenue generating and community-building activities.
- Develop and implement a multi-year strategy, including annual budget, to increase yearly revenue to ensure program sustainability, with the feedback and support of staff and board.
- Support the staff and board with developing and implementing the volunteer program, including recruitment, engagement, and stewardship.
- Oversee all and execute some financial processes including, but not limited to, assisting bookkeeper with accounts receivable / payable, liaising with banks, tax preparers, and other financial vendors, and monitoring and reporting on revenue, expenses and cashflow.
Equity and Anti-Racist Practices
- Lead the development and implementation of equity and anti-racist policies and practices, ensuring that all staff and board are effectively engaged in helping us move toward being an anti-racist organization.
- Encourage and leverage professional development opportunities for self, staff and board to advance their gender equity and anti-racist knowledge, skills, abilities and practice.
- Cultivate belonging by sharing, seeking, and centering the perspectives of youth 8-17, and those most underestimated and harmed by systemic oppression, particularly Black, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, SWANA, MENA, gender expansive, and differently abled populations.
- Support staff in their efforts to partner with and support other community organizations that center youth and BIPOC voices.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Vision, Culture & Leadership
- Provide consistent and visionary leadership to sustain and grow Rain City Rock Camp’s impact.
- Center youth voices in our programs so that they are accessible, relevant, and meet their needs.
- Serve as an active spokesperson to the community, media, supporters, and broader collective.
Programs
- Support staff with the design, marketing, promotion, delivery, and management of quality programs.
- Support staff on the development and implementation of evaluation processes related to educational and other outcomes.
- Plan and collaborate with staff on projects and special events.
Management & Operations
- Supervise staff members and ensure an effective and supportive work environment.
- Manage all human resources functions.
- Oversee strategic office / facility needs, including liaising with the landlord.
Board and Strategy
- Support and engage the board and staff in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and community priorities, including participating in board meetings, board recruitment and stewardship and other board-adjacent activities.
- Serve as liaison between board and staff, providing timely and transparent reporting.
Qualifications
- Five years’ experience in :
- Fundraising and financial management, including individual giving, donor stewardship, budget development, cashflow management and financial reporting.
- Leading or actively participating in developing anti-racist, youth-centered, or trans-inclusive practices.
- Non-profit settings or mission-centered businesses (for example, B-Corps).
- Managing employees or teams.
- Effective project and time management, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Ability to work with people of varying backgrounds and experience levels to create a supportive work and volunteer environment.
- Ability to foster both effective teamwork and shared accountability.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engender trust.
- Ability to ask for, offer, and respond to productive feedback and curiosity to address and examine conflict.
- General office computer program skills (Google Suite, Slack, etc.).
Supportive qualifications
- Experience in program development, program management, or event management.
- Ability to facilitate and model fun, infusing silliness where possible to dismantle societal expectations of perfectionism.
- Experience leading or supporting youth development and youth empowerment.
- A love of music and creative expression as tools for social change.
Other important information
This role is full-time (40 hours a week) and reports to the Board Chair. It requires weekday (Monday - Friday) attendance with some scheduling flexibility with virtual work and working evenings and weekends as needs dictate.
This role requires the following physical capabilities :
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to others in person, over the phone, on a computer.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and move furnishing required for set up of events.
- Ability to navigate through our building, including accessing multiple stairways, climbing ladders, and other difficult / atypical areas.

The salary is $80,000 / year. Benefits include employer-sponsored medical / dental / vision insurance, life and long-term disability coverage, 10 days of sick leave, 10 days of paid time off, 12 paid holidays, 2 days of volunteer time off, and work flexibility.

Founded in 2008, Rain City Rock Camp (RCRC) combines music education, gender-responsive programming, and a commitment to positive social change.
We use music as our vehicle with the goals to empower participants to take risks, question norms, and build their identities and communities.
We center and support youth and adults of marginalized genders, both in the content of our programming and in the identities of the mentors who are a part of our community.
Participants in our programs receive instrument instruction from local musicians and write, rehearse and perform original songs with the support of mentors.
Our annual budget is $300,000.
Over the last 16 years, Rain City Rock Camp has evolved into a vital Seattle organization, engaging more than 400 women, girls, and gender expansive individuals annually.
Year-round programming includes Seattle Summer Rock Camp, Adult Rock Camp, Amplified Teen Voices (youth leadership program), and our Advanced Music Program, among others.
