Purpose / Summary
Digital Literacy Tutors serve CCD students as the first point of contact for the EXCEL! Zone learning support team. Digital Tutors are an integral part of EXCEL! as they ensure a high level and quality customer service experience for every student and staff member whether by Webex or in person.
This is an on-campus position located on the Confluence Building 4th floor and requires following CDC and Auraria Campus guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serve students as peer support with routine or basic computer navigation skills using Webex or in person. This person will also work deeply with digital storytelling student support via WeVideo.
70% Assist students
- Greet students to the EXCEL! Zone in a friendly and supportive manner.
- Guide students as they learn the sign-in and sign-out process and ensure all students understand the purpose and importance of the EXCEL! ZONE sign-in process.
- Answer phones professionally and direct calls to the appropriate person or department.
- Offer feedback on written script for video use.
- Support students with basic technical support as needed throughout the day (password reset, upload assignments into D2L, refill printer toner / paper, etc.)
- Resolve basic technical problems related to printers and files; report any unresolved computer problems to the EXCEL! Zone Administrative Assistant.
20% Monitor assigned tutoring zone area
- Assist with the daily and weekly tutoring space maintenance.
- Attend all departmental meetings and regularly scheduled training sessions.
- Follow cleaning procedures : At start of shiftMid-shiftEnd-of-Shift
10% Administrative support duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Ability to learn and adapt to student needs
- Proficient computer skills, internet navigation skills, password reset
- Knowledge of or willing to learn educational technologies such as Wevideo, Webex, D2L, Microsoft Word, MS Powerpoint, and Outlook.
- Experience working with people form diverse backgrounds such as individuals with a disability, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and LGBTQ communities.
- Ability to strictly adhere to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Current student of Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, or the University of Colorado Denver who is taking at least six hours of credit and awarded financial aid work-study funds.
- Minimum GPA 2.75 (new students exempt first semester)

Supplemental Information
Preferred Experience :
- Use of computer software programs, D2L, Webex and WeVideo
- Customer service background
- Computer Science knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, D2L, or willing to learn
Other Considerations :

- Must be in good academic standing.
Time Commitment
Up to 20 hours a week (may not exceed 20 hours per week. Flexibility to work morning, afternoons and or some evenings. Typical department hours range from 8 : 00 am 5 : 00 pm with some evening shifts, subject to change.
