Job Purpose

The Sales & Catering Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of conference and catering services for The Edgewater.

The Sales & Catering Manager acts as the liaison between the client, sales team, food & beverage department and the operational staff to ensure the seamless execution of events.

The Key Focus Area of this position and Primary deployment is centered around Weddings and Social Events, including galas, graduations, anniversaries, baby showers, celebrations of live, family reunions, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication (target one business day), proactive problem solving and a strong focus on client experience.
  • Maximize revenue and profit potential through the sales process, upselling and developing strategies to maximize efficiencies, reduce waste and ensure proper billing of third party costs.
  • Be timely, and provide complete and accurate information, to facilitate contracting, event orders and billing process. Review all documents for accuracy with other departments and the end client.
  • Maintain strong and positive relationships with vendors.
  • Manage client experience, introducing client to operations managers / leads / personnel and billing managers. Assist client as needed with questions, facilitating requests and / or working as a liaison between client and other departments / personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments of The Edgewater to facilitate planning and execution of events. Assist where needed to ensure positive client experience.
  • Stay informed on current industry trends, competitive market factors and updated technologies / systems.
  • Be involved as a leader in the industry and community.
  • Assist with recruitment, mentoring, training and employee development.
  • Be a leader in the organization, contributing to positive culture, sustaining brand standards and ensuring the application of policies and procedures of organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position allows for a flexible schedule in accordance with company policies, and also requires same of the applicant.

The successful applicant will be a self-starter, detailed oriented, capable of managing their time and the planning processes.

The position involves planning of both corporate and social events. The position requires the person to be on-site for these events on an as needed basis to ensure the event runs smoothly and the client has a positive experience, including being present on nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Business, Sales or related study.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in catering and event planning field.
  • Excellent personal computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office software and at least one (1) year experience with Delph, Opera and / or comparable convention management software.
  • Possess above average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle difficult situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position may require evening and weekend work, working outdoors, working with challenging clients, and minimal travel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
