The Legal Assistant assists the Paralegal and attorneys in our Consumer Protection and Property Insurance Claim group at every level, ranging from client intake and case organization and pre-suit development to and through discovery, hearings, and trial.
Lacey Lyons Rezanka is a mid-sized multi-practice area law firm in Melbourne, Brevard County. The firm consists of 11 attorneys who practice in a diverse range of areas, including commercial litigation, property and real estate disputes, estate planning, land use and zoning, first party insurance coverage and consumer protection.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients, other attorneys, and judicial assistants to coordinate meetings, hearings, inspections, and depositions and finalize the same by calendaring and noticing the same once coordinated and set.
- Collect, examine, and organize documents for paralegal or attorney review and case preparation.
- Listen and engage with potential new clients while obtaining the necessary information to determine if their legal case is one that our team can handle.
- Document phone conversations with clients and potential new clients in the Firm's Case Management Software System (CLIO).
- Prepare and send engagement agreements to potential new clients.
- Research regulations, laws, public records and other resources to assist paralegals and attorneys with investigations and legal research.
- Draft and proofread correspondence, pleadings, notices, discovery and other legal documents.
- Manage, organize, and maintain paper and electronic filing systems.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate quickly and effectively by telephone, email and in person.

- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Enjoy a fast-paced and challenging litigation environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Clio or similar case management and billing software systems.
Education
All educational accomplishments will be considered, however, there are no formal educational requirements for this position.
Experience
1-3+ years of experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary.
Hours
9am-5pm Monday through Friday
